Chen, Saito set new school records at COS Invite
VISALIA – It was a record-breaking day for the Clovis Community College swim team.
Competing in a four-team meet at College of the Sequoias against host COS, Fresno City College, and Merced College, a pair of Crush men set new program-best marks in the pool.
Nicola Saito was first up for Clovis, swimming 1:59.69 in the 200-yard IM for a new school record. Not to be outdone, Matt Chen also made history with his time of 58.66 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Chen went on to have a big day, taking first-place in three events at the meet. He was also the winner in the 50 free (22.26) and 100 fly (52.44).
Also taking first place for the Crush were Lake McQuoid in the 100 back (58.17) and Andrew Garza in the 200 back (2:15.51).
Up next for the Crush in the San Joaquin Delta College Invitational on Feb. 20 in Stockton.
