Crush’s Matt Chen selected CVC Male Student-Athlete of the Year

Clovis Community College freshman Matt Chen added one final outstanding honor to an impressive 2026 swimming season.

Chen was recently named the 2025-26 Central Valley Conference Male Student-Athlete of the Year. The all-sports award was voted on by conference athletic directors.

Chen was a force in the pool for the Crush and dominated the competition at the Central Valley Conference championships. He earned high point honors on his way to capturing seven gold medals overall and was named the CVC's Men's Swimmer of the Year.

He took first place in four individual events, winning the 50 breast, 100 breast, 200 breast, and 100 IM. Chen was also a part of three winning relay squads, helping the Crush take the 400 freestyle, 200 medley, and 400 medley relay events.

Chen set new school records for the Crush, smashing the previous times in the 100 IM as well as the 200 and 400 medley relays.
