CLOVIS – Madison Martinez' goal in the 29th minute would be all the offense the Clovis Crush would need to defeat visiting Reedley College 1-0 in a Central Valley Conference game on Friday.
The Crush continue to play solid ball since entering conference play. They've suffered just one loss in five games and improved to 2-1-2 in CVC action.
Clovis was able to hold off a tough Reedley squad that was off to a fantastic start. The Tigers dropped to 9-3 overall and 4-2 in the Central Valley Conference. Reedley outshot the Crush by a 12-7 margin but the Clovis defense and goalkeeper Milani Gutierrez were up to the challenge.
Gutierrez totaled 5 shutouts to post the Crush's first shutout of the season. Vicky Cuellar was credited with the assist on Martinez' game-winning goal.
Clovis, now 2-5-2 overall, is back in action on Tuesday (Oct. 7) when the Crush travel to Taft College for a 12:30 p.m. Central Valley Conference game.
