Alvarez medals in 10K to lead Crush at Day 1 of State Championships
WALNUT – Freshman Nieves Alvarez ran 39:55.87 to finish in eighth place in the 10,000 meters to lead the Clovis Community College women's track & field team at Day 1 of the 2026 3C2A State Championships. The two-day event is being held at Mt. San Antonio College.
Fellow Crush freshman Liliana Cuevas also qualified for the state final in the 10,000 meters and clocked in at 41:16.24 to take 11th place.
Day 2 of the state championships resumes on Saturday with the Crush having nine entries over six events.
Alvarez will look to medal in a second event, leading a Clovis trio in the women's 1,500 meters. She will be joined by sophomore Amen Grewal and freshman Lexanna Pedraza in the race.
On the men's side, freshman Max Jauregui will compete in both the 1,500 and 800 meters. The 3,000-meters steeplechase will see freshmen Davis Bosch and Dylan Devine in action. Freshman Daeton Mancebo-Lefore is set to compete in the 400 meters.
And in relays, the team of Mancebo-Lefore, Isaac Villarreal, Jauregui, and Bosch will compete in the 4x400 final.
